Vintage Fender 1959 Jazzmaster Re-finish Black

This 1959 Fender Jazzmaster is a well-loved vintage piece that has seen extensive playtime over its lifetime. Originally likely finished in Sunburst, it has been refinished in black but retains its original 1-ply gold anodized aluminum pickguard. The pickups are original, with a warm and full-sounding neck pickup and rewound bridge pickup. The Rewind was done by Curtis Novak of Curtis Novak Pickups. We added a small piece of copper braid between the bass side thimble and the bridge pickup ground to help it have a more solid ground. This could easily be removed. There is also two small pieces of foam to help the bridge humbucker sit at the correct height. The original foam is still there and in good shape. These two small pieces just added about 1/4 in of height to make it sit where we wanted it.

The tremolo system is in excellent working condition, and the original bridge has been cleaned up beautifully. The rhythm circuit is fully functional, and the original tuners are smooth and operational. The neck has a spectacular broken-in feel from years of dedicated play, with noticeable fret wear on the first few frets but still allowing for a low-action setup.

There are signs of wear throughout the body, including scratches, oxidation, and paint chips, particularly on the upper horn and lower edges. The truss rod has minimal tension, and the neck remains perfectly straight. It has been set up with 10-46 gauge strings but would accommodate heavier strings well. To ensure proper bridge height adjustment, a Curtis Novak shim designed specifically for vintage Jazzmasters has been installed. This is an incredible opportunity to own a true pre-CBS Jazzmaster with immense character and history.
