Description

Introducing the Danelectro Longhorn Bass in Classic Black Step into the world of vintage bass tones with the Danelectro Longhorn Bass in a sleek and timeless black finish. Since its inception in 1958, the Longhorn Bass has been a favorite among bassists for its unique sound and distinctive body shape. Countless recordings have featured this iconic bass, and its legacy continues to inspire musicians to this day.

The Longhorn Bass boasts a Masonite (hardboard) body, combined with an internal hardwood frame and cosmetic vinyl body tape for a truly vintage feel. The bass stays true to its roots with classic features such as vintage-style tuners, an aluminum top nut, the iconic "Coke bottle" headstock, lipstick-cased single-coil pickups, and concentric or "stacked" volume and tone controls. The original-spec wood saddle and maple neck, secured to the body with four large screws, round out this remarkable instrument.

Remarkable Playability and Sound Despite its unusual appearance, the Longhorn body shape offers excellent balance when played with a strap, and the deep cutaways provide easy access to the upper frets. The shallow D neck profile, combined with a 355mm (14-inch) fingerboard radius, ensures superb playability, while the medium frets make string bending smooth and effortless.

The Longhorn Bass produces a bright, snappy tone that can be tamed with a set of flatwound strings for a more vintage sound. While it may not have the same low-end thump as a P-Bass, the Longhorn Bass holds its own in any musical situation. John Entwistle of The Who famously played a Longhorn Bass on the iconic "My Generation" recording, and with some gain on the bridge pickup, you can recreate his legendary Quadrophenia sound.
